What is Asprogrammer?

For the uninitiated, Asprogrammer is an open-source, user-friendly software designed to interface with CH341A-based programmers. These devices allow you to read and write data to SPI flash chips (commonly used for BIOS and firmware storage). Asprogrammer 2

While the hardware is cheap and widely available, the default software provided by Chinese manufacturers is often buggy, poorly translated, or difficult to navigate. Asprogrammer was built to solve this, offering a clean interface, better chip support, and improved stability. Chip database omissions – missing newer Winbond W25Q256JV

Software Workflow

  1. Launch Asprogrammer.exe (no installation required – portable).
  2. Select your chip from the dropdown list or use “Detect” to auto-identify.
  3. Read the chip to buffer (backup original data first!).
  4. Load a binary/hex file into the buffer (File → Open).
  5. Program – optionally enable “Verify” and “Erase before write”.
  6. Compare buffer with chip content to ensure integrity.
