He closed the pop-up. Another window opened. Then another. His laptop fan began to whir, a high-pitched scream of mechanical distress.
"Marcus, you're going to brick your laptop," Sarah said, amusement dancing in her eyes.
"Just... one... second," Marcus grunted, mashing 'Alt-F4'. Finally, the downloads folder popped up. A file appeared. Beer_Mechanics_Solutions_8th_Ed.pdf.exe.
"It's an .exe file," Sarah pointed out dryly. "That’s not a PDF. That’s a virus."
Marcus hesitated. The cursor hovered over the file. He was desperate. He was sleep-deprived. He wanted the answers to the universe of stress and strain so badly he could taste it.
"No, look," Marcus said, clicking it again. "It's just zipped weirdly."
"Stop," Sarah commanded. She reached over and slammed the laptop shut.
"Hey!"
"Listen to me," she said, opening her own binder. She pulled out a sheet of paper covered in
