Relative unknown Michael Grayson was a shocking choice to play the combustible Ned. But after seeing his screen test—a single, unbroken five-minute take where he sweats through his suit without saying a word—the studio was sold.
“Ned isn’t stupid,” Grayson explains over iced tea on a 98-degree night. “He’s addicted. I watched old noir where men get drunk on a woman’s attention. That’s Ned. By the time he realizes he’s in over his head, his body has already committed the crime.”
Grayson did his own stunts in the famous beach house explosion scene—a decision his insurance agent reportedly hated.

Taking on the iconic role originally played by Turner, British actress Sarah Brown (known for her gripping turns in indie thrillers) admits she almost said no.
“You’d have to be mad to walk into that shadow,” Brown tells us exclusively, fanning herself between takes. “But our director said, ‘Don’t play her as a villain. Play her as survival.’ That changed everything.”
Brown’s Matty is less theatrical, more chillingly practical. In our exclusive clip, she delivers the famous “You’re not too smart, are you?” line with a soft whisper—not a purr—making it twice as dangerous. Costume designer Lina Rojas notes: “Sarah’s Matty wears white linens that cling, not silk. She’s trying to look innocent, which is her greatest weapon.”

Nemec brought a manic energy to the screen. In a 2021 podcast, Nemec revealed that he based his performance on a mixture of Mickey Rourke’s mannerisms and a “Florida man who once tried to barbecue a alligator.”

In a bizarre turn of events, we have learned that at least two producers attempted to option a Body Heat 2 in 2015, specifically to reunite the 2010 cast. The pitch document (which we have seen) was titled Rising Heat and would have followed Ned Racine’s character out of prison, only to discover that Matty Walker faked her death—again.
Stacy Haiduk was reportedly interested, but Nick Searcy passed, citing scheduling conflicts with Justified. The project died in development hell.
