Creating a New Project
To start a new project:
- Launch Edius X.
- Go to File > New > Project.
- Choose your project settings, including resolution, frame rate, and color space.
- Click OK to create the project.
3. Keyboard Customization (Speed Editor)
EDIUS X allows full keyboard remapping.
- Go to
Settings > User Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts. - Search for "Ripple Delete." If you don't like
Shift+Del, change it toX. - Search for "Nest." Map it to
Ctrl+Nto easily group tracks into a virtual clip.
Step 1: Project Setup
- Launch EDIUS X →
File→New Project - Settings: Name your project, set frame rate (e.g., 25 fps for PAL, 23.98 for film), resolution (e.g., 1920x1080), and render format (Grass Valley HQ/XAVC recommended).
- Critical: Enable "Background Rendering" – EDIUS will render only what’s needed without stopping your work.

User Interface Overview
The Edius X interface is divided into several sections:
- Project Browser: Displays your project's media and timeline.

Track Types
EDIUS uses specific track types:
- VA Tracks (Video/Audio): The standard track for synced footage.
- V Tracks: Video only.
- A Tracks: Audio only.
Workflow Tip: Use multiple tracks. Keep your main interview on Track 1, B-Roll on Track 2, and music on Track 3 (Audio). This allows you to lock tracks you aren't working on, preventing accidental edits.
