3. Walkthrough: The Correct Path (Post-Patch)
Act III: The Confrontation (Boss Fight, Patched Mechanics)
The fight now has three distinct phases. Here is the post-patch cheat sheet: giantess of abyss guide patched
Phase 1 (100%-70% HP):
- Attacks: Stomp, finger flick, breath weapon (acid).
- New pattern: The stomp comes in a 1-2-3 rhythm, then a pause. Roll into the third stomp, not away.
- Opportunity: Attack her left ankle tendon after the breath weapon. The patch reduced its health pool by 15%.
Phase 2 (70%-30% HP):
- Attacks: The Echoing Screech (requires Membrane of Silence), double hand slam, environmental rubble toss.
- Patched cheese: You can no longer hide behind pillars. The screech now destroys them. Instead, use the Corpse Spires as cover—they absorb sound.
- Damage window: After the double slam, her elbows drop to waist level. Jump and slash the exposed Abyssal Cysts on her forearms.
Phase 3 (30%-0% HP – “The Sorrowful Grasp”):
- This is where most players fail post-patch.
- New attack: Her fingers sweep the entire arena horizontally. The only dodge is a wall jump off the left fissure wall → air dash → grapple hook to the central stalactite.
- Timing: The sweep takes 2.5 seconds to cross the full arena. Your wall jump window is 0.8 seconds. Practice in the training mode (added in patch 2.1.0).
- Final blow: Do not attack her heart directly. The patch requires you to use the Rusted Dagger of Mercy on her exposed sternum while she performs the “weeping” idle animation.
Guide: The "Giantess Moon" Build (Rellana's Twin Moons)
If you meant the giant humanoid boss from the DLC who uses moon magic. [Guide] Giantess of Abyss: Complete Walkthrough & Patched
Status: Viable but Nerfed (Patched)
What was Patched?
In recent patches (specifically Patch 1.12 and subsequent hotfixes), FromSoftware reduced the Poise damage and stance-breaking capability of Rellana's Twin Moons. Previously, this spell could stance-break major bosses in just one cast. It now requires more commitment, but it remains a top-tier "Giant" caster spell. Attacks: Stomp, finger flick, breath weapon (acid)
Act I: The Descent (Patrols & Pits)
- Old route (broken): The left-side tunnel past the first ribcage is now collapsed. Use the right-side Fungal Bridge.
- Patch change: The Stalker Worms now respawn if you take longer than 90 seconds. Move fast.
- Key item: Membrane of Silence – found inside the second stomach of the Corpse-Whale (use fire to cut it open). This item is mandatory to survive the Giantess’s Phase 2 screech.
Ending C: The Echo (Secret Speedrun Ending)
- Requirement: Beat the Giantess in under 12 minutes without taking any damage from her gaze attacks. Trigger the hidden bell in the Drowned Spire before Phase 1.
- What happens: Time collapses. You see a vision of the Giantess as a human child, crying over a miniature abyss. The fight never happens. You wake up on the surface.
- Reward: Chronos Shard – slows down enemy animations by 15% for your next playthrough.
1. What Changed in the Latest Patch? (The “Giantess” Rebalance)
Before we dive into strategy, you need to unlearn everything from the pre-patch meta. The developers (AbyssForge Studios) have explicitly targeted three major exploits:
- The Collarbone Safe Zone (Removed): Previously, players could stand on a specific rocky outcrop near the Giantess’s left clavicle to avoid her grab hitbox. This is now a death trap. The new patch adds a Radiant Pulse shockwave that covers all elevated perches.
- Shadow Veil Duration (Nerfed): The rogue’s invisibility skill now lasts 4 seconds instead of 12. You cannot simply stealth your way to the Abyssal Core anymore.
- New Phase 3 Attack: “The Sorrowful Grasp”: When Lysandra’s health drops below 15%, she will no longer stomp randomly. She now performs a full-environment sweep that requires wall-jumping. Failing this means an instant game over.
Good to know: The patch also fixed the bug where the Giantess’s footsteps would desync in co-op mode. They are now heavier, slower, and terrifyingly rhythmic.
