5. Tools Required to Flash JL381A Firmware

Flashing the JL381A is not like updating an Arduino or ESP32. You cannot simply press a button over USB. The JL381A’s ROM bootloader requires a hardware programmer for full flash writes. Two methods exist: jl381a firmware

Step 1: Transfer the File

Transfer the downloaded .swi file to the switch using TFTP, SFTP, or USB. Filename: JL381A_Recovery_Package_v2931

Example (TFTP):

4. Schedule Downtime

Firmware updates cause the switch to reboot, resulting in 3-5 minutes of packet loss. Communicate this to users. Update during off-hours (e.g., Sunday at 2 AM).

Error 2: Device powers on but no Bluetooth

• Cause: Firmware MAC address is missing or corrupted. The MAC is stored in a separate EEPROM area or in the last 4KB of flash.
• Fix: Write a valid MAC address using jl_bt_write_mac tool (requires original backup).
