  • Corrupted antivirus – Breaks Kaspersky’s self-defense, leaving your PC unprotected.
  • Legal/EULA violation – Kaspersky’s terms forbid circumventing trial limitations.
  • Blacklisting – Your device or network could be blocked from legitimate Kaspersky services.
  • No security updates – After tampering, the product may not update virus definitions properly.

Prerequisites:

  • A backup of your important files.
  • Your original Kaspersky Total Security installer.
  • A stable internet connection (to be turned off during the reset).

Phase 1: Disable Kaspersky Self-Defense

The self-defense prevents registry edits. You must turn it off.

  1. Open Kaspersky Total Security.
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon) → General.
  3. Scroll to Self-Defense.
  4. Uncheck "Enable Self-Defense".
  5. Click Save.
  6. Right-click the Kaspersky tray icon and select Exit (or use Task Manager to kill all avp.exe and avpui.exe processes).

❌ Not an official Kaspersky feature

Kaspersky does not provide any built-in or legitimate "trial reset" function. The company’s official licensing model offers:

  • A free trial (usually 30 days) – once per device/user.
  • After the trial expires, you must purchase a license to continue receiving updates and full protection.

Any "trial reset" tool is third-party, unofficial, and potentially dangerous.
