Part 3: Step-by-Step – How to Edit a Roster
Assuming you have downloaded RED MC and extracted it to your NBA 2K14 root folder, here is how to change Damian Lillard from a 79 overall rookie into a 96 overall MVP.
Step 1: Locate the Roster File
- In NBA 2K14 (PC), navigate to
Options > Manage Roster > Save Roster. Name itEDIT_ME.ROS. - Close NBA 2K14.
- Go to
C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\2K Sports\NBA 2K14\Saves\.
Step 2: Open RED MC
- Launch
RED_MC.exe. - Click
File > Open > NBA 2K14 > Roster. - Select
EDIT_ME.ROS.
Step 3: Find Your Player
- RED MC will load a massive database. Navigate to the "Players" tab.
- You will see a list of 4,000+ players (including Euroleague, classic teams, and hidden free agents).
- Search for "Lillard."
Step 4: Edit the Attributes
- You will see columns for everything:
SHOT_3PT,SPEED,QUICKNESS,HANDS,DUNK. - Change his
POTENTIALto99. - Scroll right to the Tendencies section. Change
TOUCH(how often he shoots) to99. - Change his
PRIMARY_POSITIONfromPGtoPG/SG.
Step 5: Save and Inject
- Click
Save As. OverwriteEDIT_ME.ROS. - Crucial step: Click "Apply Cyberfaces" if you changed a player model. Click "Apply Shoes" if you changed footwear. Without this, the game crashes.
Step 6: Load in Game
- Re-open NBA 2K14. Load the
EDIT_MEroster. Your Lillard is now a god.
3. Modding via the "Modding Way" and NLSC
While not strictly "roster editors," any discussion of roster updates for NBA 2K14 must include graphic modding.
- Cyberfaces: Roster editors can assign specific "Cyberface IDs" to players. To make the roster look modern, modders create 3D models of players (e.g., Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Edwards) and import them into the game folder.
- Uniforms and Courts: To fully update a roster from 2013 to 2024, the roster editor must be used in conjunction with file replacements in the game directory to update logos, jerseys, and court floors.
4.2 Realism & Modernization
Even after official updates ceased, modders released “2025 Roster Updates” using the editor to transfer current NBA lineups (e.g., Victor Wembanyama to Spurs) into NBA 2K14, alongside realistic contracts and playbooks. nba 2k14 roster editor
