Step 2: The First Dungeon (Slums)

The Optimal 6-Person Party
- Front Row (Left to Right):
- Lord (Lv. 1): High AC, can cast a few healing spells, immune to instant death (critical). Your tank.
- Fighter (Ftr): The damage dealer. Give them the heaviest two-handed sword or axe you can find.
- Paladin (Pal): Second tank. Gains immunity to poison and some evil-based instant death.
- Back Row (Left to Right):
- Thief (Thf): Mandatory. Without a high-level Thief, traps in floors 3+ will annihilate you. Pump Speed and Luck.
- Cleric (Cle): Healing, curing paralysis, and undead turning. Your lifeline.
- Mage (Mge): Area-of-effect damage and key utility spells (Silence, Sleep, Makanito).

Part 1: Getting Started (The Basics)

1. Character Creation Unlike modern RPGs, you cannot just "pick" a class. You must roll stats for a character, and if their stats are high enough, they qualify for a specific class. Goal: Find the stairs down
- Fighter: Frontline tank. Needs high Strength/Vitality.
- Mage: Offensive magic. Needs high IQ.
- Priest: Healing magic. Needs high Piety.
- Thief: Disarming traps (essential). Needs high Agility/Dexterity.
- Bishop: Can learn both Mage and Priest spells, but levels up slowly. Needs high IQ and Piety.
- Samurai/Ninja/Lord: Elite classes. Require very high stats across the board. (Ignore these for your first run).
Recommended Party Composition (6 Members):
- Fighter (Good) – Tank
- Fighter (Good) – Off-tank/DPS
- Priest (Good) – Healer
- Mage (Neutral) – AoE Damage
- Bishop (Neutral) – Support/Identifier (Bishops can identify items without shops, saving massive amounts of gold).
- Thief (Evil) – Trap disarming (Keep in back row).
2. Combat Mechanics
- Front Row / Back Row: Characters in slots 1-3 are the front row. They can attack with melee weapons and take most of the damage. Characters in slots 4-6 are the back row. They take less damage but cannot attack with melee weapons (unless they have long-reach weapons like spears/bows).
- Class Change: You can change a character's class at the guild. They keep half their stats and learned spells but reset to Level 1. (Example: Level a Mage to learn all fire spells, then switch to Fighter to be a magic-wielding tank).
