Some xatab installers (especially older ones from 2015–2018) write the language to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Steps:
Win + R, type regedit, press Enter.Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\YourGameNameLanguage, Locale, or InstalledLang.1033 for English (US) or 1049 for Russian.

Xatab repacks are unauthorized copies of copyrighted games. Changing the language on such a repack does not legalize it.
However, the "xatab language change" keyword is also searched by users who own legitimate copies of games but have physical media or digital backups where the installer defaults to Russian due to distribution region. For example, a legitimate Russian DVD copy of Metro Exodus might use an identical installer architecture to xatab’s tools.
