Date of Release: June 2022 Focus: Stability, Bug Fixes, and Workflow Optimization
To get the most out of this build, adjust these settings immediately after installation:
Bevel Pro was revolutionary but buggy in 2022.0.0–.0.6. Artists reported: zbrush 2022.0.8
ZBrush 2022.0.8 fixed these by rewriting how Bevel Pro handles edge selection buffers. Bevels now calculate cleaner, and the undo stack no longer bloats memory.
Version 2022 introduced several marquee features that .0.8 refined and stabilized: Report: Pixologic ZBrush 2022
Bas Relief (The "Game Changer"): This is arguably the most significant feature added in the 2022 cycle. It allows you to take a complex 3D scene and "flatten" it onto a 2D surface while preserving depth and volume. For artists creating coins, medallions, or intricate engravings, this tool is revolutionary. It works mathematically to fake depth in a way that was previously incredibly time-consuming to do manually.
sculptris Pro Enhancements: The dynamic tessellation system received a major overhaul. It is now more stable when pushing and pulling large amounts of clay, and the "Local Subdivision" feature allows for much denser details in specific areas without destroying the topology of the rest of the model. Crashes when beveling high-poly count edges
xTractor Brushes: These brushes allow you to drag detail from one part of your model onto a 2D canvas to create your own alpha textures instantly. It effectively lets you create custom surface noise or scales on the fly, streamlining the texturing workflow significantly.
